Problem Solving as the key to success
Recently I was asked to name one factor that has contributed to my success and I said it was my background in computer science. I am the consummate problem solver, the more complex and undefined the better. I was one of the first Computer Science graduates at Brandeis University and looking back, we have been labeled as pioneers. No problem was too hard and nothing was off the table. In computer science we learned how to bring order and structure into a situation that looked like chaos. Now I find out that my instincts were right. In this article, McKinsey highlights six factors for successful business problem solving and all of them are part of the computer science mindset.
