We Remember
May we never forget that horrific day 20 years ago that changed our lives forever. I still get chills when watching this video. I think of how our community banded together to comfort those whose loved ones left for work that day on a typical September morning and never returned home. I remember where I was when the first tower fell and all the confusion that came afterwards. I remember the unclaimed cars at the train station. I remember the smoke filled New York skyline. I remember the relief in learning of the friends that went out to coffee, went out for a haircut, drove their kids to school or were just late to work that day.
I remember the feelings of pain and void when the smoke cleared.
Now, looking back, I am most proud of how resilient we are as Americans. We have rebuilt, we have moved forward and we have not forgotten. We have taken the time every year to remember every one of those heroes who lost their life on that terrible day. Their memories bring us hope.
